Water Conservation
We conserve our water in a few ways:
Rain Barrels
Water Meter
Sprinkler Timers
Low Flow/Dual Flush Toilets
Recycling
In our household we recycle the following items by taking them to a local recycling drop off location. We sincerely hope that the Chicago blue bins reach us soon.
Glass
Plastic
Aluminium Cans
Cardboard
Paper
Composting
By composting our yard clippings & other organic waste, we not only reduce the amount we throw away we also create rich fertilizing soil for our garden & flower beds. A win-win situation.
Walking/Cycling/Public Transportation
Whenever possible we attempt to limit the amount of travel we do via our automobile. Daily walking also has the health benefits of exercise & is a great way to have some time alone to think. The City of Chicago as well as Cook County Forest Preserve has some great trails. Check them out.
